Expert Answers to Your Trilingual Programme Queries
What is the benefit of a trilingual playgroup for a child who only speaks English at home?
A trilingual environment (English, Cantonese, and Putonghua) at the playgroup stage utilises a child’s "window of opportunity" for language acquisition. By immersing them in 60–90-minute sessions of play-based learning, children develop an "ear" for tonal languages naturally. This builds the foundational neural pathways for future fluency without the stress of formal language drills.
How does Mighty Oaks help toddlers manage separation anxiety?
We use a "Gentle Transition" roadmap. In our accompanied Baby and Growing Acorn sessions, we focus on building a secure emotional bond. As they move to the unaccompanied Mighty Acorn (24–30m) level, our teachers use consistent routines and "Independence Milestones" to help children feel safe, confident, and ready to explore without a caregiver.
How do you teach "Self-control" to a two-year-old in Pre-nursery?
In our Seed (PN) classes, self-control is taught as a developmental milestone. We use "Structured Choice" activities and sensory-based "Stop and Think" games. Instead of just following rules, children learn the internal discipline required to complete a task and tidy up—a critical skill for their future transition into K1.
How successful are Mighty Oaks graduates in securing primary school placements?
Our "Playful Learning" approach consistently leads to academic excellence and elite placements. For the 2025–2026 academic year, our students achieved remarkable success across both international and local streams, including:
International Success: K2 placements at Hong Kong International School (HKIS) and consistent admissions to The ISF Academy.
Local & Private Highlights: PN placement success at Kau Yan School and Sheng Kung Hui Kindergarten, with new 2026 highlights including St Paul’s Kindergarten.
Our graduates historically transition into prestigious institutions such as Canadian International School, German Swiss (GSIS), ESF schools, La Salle Primary School and St Stephen’s College Preparatory School. We do not just teach—we prepare your child with the soft skills and character needed to thrive in any elite primary environment.
Is there a full-day option for working parents?
Yes, we are committed to supporting busy Hong Kong families. We are currently in the process of applying for a formal Full-Day Programme for PN through to K3, pending EDB approval. In the meantime, we offer the Mighty Oaks Club, a comprehensive extended-day solution. This programme mirrors our high-quality school experience, offering enrichment in STEM experiments, Chinese calligraphy and academic boosters. It provides a seamless, values-based transition for children whose parents require care beyond our standard half-day sessions.

My son has been attending Mighty Oaks for 3 months now and I can really see how it has improved his language ability. He speaks and sings in Mandarin and Cantonese all the time now (previously mostly in English). The teachers are very caring and attentive and they also expect a lot of parent involvement, which is great for the kids but also makes it busy for the parents! It's always fun for me to ask my 2 year old what creative and healthy daily snacks he had at school that day. Every week, children are sent home with English and Chinese books to read, which is wonderful because I don't have to search for books myself to read with him. There's a lot of community involvement and service opportunities created even at this young age through the school, which is unlike other schools my children have attended.

Amazingly loving teachers. My son improved a lot after joining Mightyoaks. He got a lot more active and expressive and loves to perform for us at home now. The first time I have experienced this level of care and nurturing from all parties within the school. This must be transcended within the school culture and passed on to its students

I recently brought my son to Mighty Oaks International Nursery and Kindergarten for their playgroup, and I have to say, it was an excellent experience! The space was clean, bright, and welcoming, and my son couldn't get enough of the fun activities. He especially loved the outdoor messy play as well as the obstacle course set up by the Mandarin teachers in the indoor playground. We felt very comfortable and safe throughout the entire playgroup. I highly recommend Mighty Oaks International Nursery and Kindergarten for their outstanding facilities The best trilingual kindergarten in Kennedy Town!
